P.R.E.P.S. Concussion Symposium

Seeing Stars Foundation is hosting a special sports concussion symposium named P.R.E.P.S. to address concerns and provide solutions on concussion in Youth Sports. The symposium is comprised of a series of lecture presentations to be followed by a Q&A session.  Our invited speakers are concussion experts with knowledgeable insights and experience on the most important issues concerning concussion in Youth Sports today.  The topics will also focus on the evaluation, treatment, and management of sports related concussions.  This event will be held at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, FL, on September 26th.  Admission is free...  Click the link below to register.

P.R.E.P.S. is opened to everyone, especially high school athletes, youth leagues, and sports clubs for kids.  Seeing Stars Foundation aims to tackle sports concussion for young athletes at the root level and provide options and solutions to those who are affected by sports related neurological injuries.

P.R.E.P.S. addresses the five most prevalent topics concerning Sports Related Concussion:  Prevention – Research – Education – Protection – Safety.  Each Topic will be presented by an expert speaker in their respective field.  The event will be filmed in High-def and made available afterwards for free Download, and Streaming format.  Following is a brief description of the different topics being covered:
•    Prevention
o    Baseline testing; Proper tackling techniques; Adequate vs. limitation of practice time; Athlete conditioning; Injury diagnosis

•    Research
o    Clinical research geared toward understanding the mechanism and physiology of sports related concussions; the different organizations that are currently doing research on the issue of concussion; and an assessment of the progress that has been made, as well as future outlook.

•    Education
o    Concussion awareness and educational workshops for athletes, parents, coaches, and directors; training physicians, athletic trainers, coaches and athletes on sports related concussion evaluation and management issues; the do’s and don’ts of technology products and services.

•    Protection
o    Proper fitting for helmets; Sports Equipment Replacement program provides youth athletes with up-to-date and safe equipment.

•    Safety
o    AT Assistance: Placing athletic trainers who are trained in sports related concussion on the sidelines during games; Also, we will show you how your school or club can easily raise fund to for own AT team.
